Conference venues

The PSE Meeting 2026 will be held at the Rectorate of the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”, located at:

Viale Ellittico 31, 81100 Caserta, Italy

This venue will host the scientific sessions, poster sessions, exhibition area, and all the main conference activities.

Pre-conference Workshop & Welcome Cocktail

The Pre-conference Workshop (15 September) and the Welcome Cocktail will take place at the Department of Environmental, Biological and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technologies (DiSTABiF), University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”, located at:

Viale Lincoln 5, 81100 Caserta, Italy

Travel information

Caserta is located in the Campania region of southern Italy, approximately 30 km from Naples. Thanks to its railway connections, the city can be easily reached from Naples and Rome and from their main airports.

✈️ Arriving via Naples International Airport (NAP)

Naples International Airport (Capodichino) is the closest airport to Caserta and is therefore the most convenient option for most international participants.

Distance from Caserta: approximately 25–30 km
By car/taxi: approximately 30–40 minutes, depending on traffic.

By public transport

1. Naples Airport → Napoli Centrale railway station

The Alibus airport shuttle connects Naples International Airport directly with Napoli Centrale (Piazza Garibaldi). The journey takes approximately 15–20 minutes, depending on traffic.

Tickets can be purchased online, at the ticket machines in the airport arrivals area, or on board.

Taxis are also available outside the airport terminal.

2. Napoli Centrale → Caserta

Regular train services connect Napoli Centrale with Caserta railway station. Depending on the service selected, the journey generally takes approximately 30–50 minutes.

Caserta railway station is conveniently located in the city centre, within walking distance of the main conference venue and many of the recommended hotels.


✈️ Arriving via Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO)

Rome Fiumicino Airport is a convenient alternative, particularly for participants arriving on intercontinental flights.

Distance from Caserta: approximately 200 km
By car: approximately 2 hours 15 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes, depending on traffic.

By public transport

1. Fiumicino Airport → Roma Termini

The Leonardo Express provides a direct, non-stop connection between Fiumicino Airport and Roma Termini railway station. The journey takes approximately 32 minutes.

2. Roma Termini → Caserta

Caserta can be reached directly from Roma Termini by both high-speed (Frecciarossa or Frecciargento) and regional trains. Direct high-speed services are particularly convenient, with a journey time of approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes. Alternatively, several connections are available with a change in Naples.

Journey times vary according to the train selected; the fastest connections take approximately 1 hour 10 minutes–1 hour 30 minutes.

✈️ Arriving via Rome Ciampino Airport (CIA)

Rome Ciampino Airport is approximately 200 km from Caserta.

Several bus companies provide connections between Ciampino Airport and Roma Termini railway station. From Roma Termini, participants can continue to Caserta by train as described above.

🚆 Arriving by train

Caserta has a centrally located railway station and can be reached by train from several major Italian cities.

Participants travelling from northern or central Italy can check the available connections directly on the Trenitalia website. Depending on the departure city and selected service, a change in Rome or Naples may be required.

The Caserta railway station is located very close to the Royal Palace of Caserta and approximately 10–15 minutes on foot from the main conference venue.


🚗 Arriving by car

Caserta is easily accessible by motorway from Naples, Rome and other major Italian cities.

Participants travelling by car are advised to enter the exact address of their hotel or conference venue into their navigation system.

Practical Information

Weather

September in Caserta is generally warm and pleasant. Typical daytime temperatures range from 25 to 30 °C, while nighttime temperatures are usually between 15 and 18 °C. However, warm days are still common during this period, so participants are encouraged to dress accordingly.

All scientific sessions will take place in air-conditioned conference facilities, ensuring a comfortable environment throughout the meeting.

Currency

The currency in Italy is the Euro (€). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted.

Electricity

Italy uses a 230 V / 50 Hz electrical supply. Most hotels and conference facilities are equipped with power outlets compatible with the standard European two-pin plug, while Italian three-pin sockets are also commonly available. Participants travelling from countries using different plug types are advised to bring a suitable travel adapter.

Time Zone

Italy observes Central European Summer Time (CEST, UTC +2) during the conference period.

Language

The official language is Italian. English will be used throughout the conference, and the conference staff will be happy to assist international participants.
